Describing his representation of Peace River North’s people as an honour, MLA Dan Davies announced that he would like to continue to serve as the region’s MLA, by throwing his hat in the ring as BC United’s candidate for Peace River North. Along with Peace River South MLA Mike Bernier, who also announced his intention to run in the October 19, 2024, provincial election, Davies has many years of experience serving the region.
“I am excited to announce that I am running in the upcoming Provincial election for the BC United,” he said. “We have a fantastic team and have a plan for a better BC.”
Davies began his years of service to the community in the Rocky Mountain Ranger Cadets in Fort St. John, rising through the ranks and becoming a reservist in the Canadian Armed Forces, while also becoming an elementary school teacher.
Before running for Peace River North MLA in 2017, Davies served 12 years on Fort St. John City Council. Since his 2017 election, Davies put his education background to good use, serving as the Official Opposition Critic for Education, as well as holding a position as member of the Select Standing Committees on Education and Health.
Re-elected 2020, Davies is currently serving as the Shadow Minister for Social Development and Poverty Reduction. He and BC United believe that British Columbians are being poorly served by the current provincial government.
“We cannot continue under the harsh realities of the NDPs failed affordability plans, crime and disorder plans, and a completely failed healthcare plan.”
With the provincial election coming up in less than a year, BC United and the BC Conservative Party have been getting organized, announcing candidates in many electorates throughout the province. In the Peace however, BC United is so far the only party to announce candidates.
