Just when it seemed that the British Columbia NDP considered the North unworthy of the party’s attention this election, they lobbed a candidate into the field.
His name is Ian McMahon. The NDP website has a brief biography about this latest candidate.
According to the website, McMahon has lived and worked throughout Canada and the world. Following a variety of roles in Ottawa, Thailand and the United States he moved to BC “where he worked to build a forestry industry that supports good-paying jobs and preserves our forests for future generations.”
The bio continues discussing McMahon’s work: “has always been focused on the idea that government be in people’s corner: that it act to strengthen healthcare, reduce costs and put money in your pocket.”
An internet search has revealed that this dedication to forestry, by supporting jobs and preserving forests was carried out as Chief of Staff to the BC Minister of Forests.
The Broken Typewriter has reached out to both NDP Communications and Ian McMahon but has yet to receive a reply. This story will be updated when they respond.
