Humblest of apologies to The Broken Typewriter’s valued subscribers, and everyone who reads my work, even if you don’t subscribe.
I’ve had a family emergency, and although I thought I could take my stories with me and finish them, that hasn’t proved to be the case. Cleaning out a lifetime of stuff from one’s father’s house is a task and a half – but fortunately, finding a care home for him and all that stuff has been surprisingly easy so far. Everyone we’ve dealt with has been fabulous and so nice!
This experience has given me an idea for a story about the differences in care available for seniors in different countries though – because I have to say, the level of care my father is getting isn’t something he would get in Fort St. John or even in British Columbia. The choice of care that’s available here is something that SONS could only dream of. Perhaps they DO dream of it!!
So I hope you’ve been enjoying the few stories that I have published – mostly columns from Brad, who has been fabulous in keeping me supplied with his pearls of financial wisdom – there are more stories coming, like the continuation of my series Understanding City Council and coverage of the usual local government meetings, as well as industry news and some of the continuing national sagas that are affecting life in the North Peace.
I hope you will bear with me as my brother and I get our Dad squared away in his new home, hopefully I will return to the North before it snows!!
